Science runs on formulas. Formulas are just math operations chained together. The Science Lab pack turns your block workspace into a laboratory where every experiment is a calculation.
The Challenges
Cell Division — Calculate how many cells exist after multiple divisions. Start with one cell, double it with the Power block. 2 to the 5th power means 32 cells in 5 generations. Exponential growth in biology, expressed in blocks.
Lab Measurement — Round a measurement to a specific number of decimal places. Real lab data is messy. Your code cleans it up. The Round block turns 3.14159 into 3.14.
Growth Pattern — Model a growth sequence using math. Each stage builds on the previous one. This touches on pattern recognition — seeing the formula behind the numbers.
Chemical Ratio — Divide quantities to find ratios between elements. If you have 100ml of solution A and 250ml of solution B, what’s the ratio? Division and simplification.
Energy Formula — The advanced challenge. Calculate energy using a multi-step formula with multiplication, exponents, and division. Chain math blocks together to compute a physics equation. This is where blocks start feeling like a real scientific calculator.
What You’ll Learn
Math blocks aren’t just for arithmetic. They’re for modeling the world. Every scientific formula — from population growth to energy conversion — is just math operations in a specific order.
The Science Lab pack teaches you to translate real-world formulas into block programs. Read the formula, identify the operations, snap the blocks together, verify the result. That’s computational thinking applied to science.
Five challenges. One lab. Pure calculation.
